Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay ...

Hi guys,

I bought Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay the minute I saw the ads in my weekly mags. Finally, a product that was going to help me with my oily roots!

I used this product religiously for about 2 weeks until it was all gone and I was somewhere in the middle at the end of my bottles.

I would say that I got an extra day out of my roots - they didn't oil as much as they usually do and therefore I saved a bit of dry shampoo. But, my big issue with this product is that my ends of my hair were completely dry. In fact, they were consistently straw like. This meant that styling my hair became an issue and later on in the day, it was unruly and I honestly looked like a scarecrow.

Needless to say, this product will not be a repeat purchase and I am quite disappointed!!

What do you use to help your oily roots?

Venus Gillette Snap Razor .....

Hi guys,

I have repeat purchased this item and bought several replacement blades for it so I thought it was about time I reviewed the Venus Gillette Snap Razor.

This product is fab, you can use it wet/dry on your skin and it gives you a nice close shave. I love how small it is, it came with a small case so it is easy to pack for your hols! I haven't had a signal nick or cut with it & it is pink. I have used it on my bikini line, legs and armpits.

I actually picked this up in B&M when I was looking for a few pieces for my house - I was dressing a room to sell the house and I love having a look through the beauty aisle. It was only £4.99 but you can pay around £12.00 for these elsewhere. I always find it helpful to go to B&M or Home Bargains when I can to save myself a few pennies. Bargain Beauty!! I would always use the Venus Gillette disposables - either the pink or turquoise and while I still occasionally use these - the snap is my new razor of choice!

All I can say is, if you haven't tried this product, you need to.

Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine

I have been trying to get a lot of reading done lately. As previously mentioned, I have started to do less work at home, making more time for myself. So far, so good. This has left me more time to spend how I like. I love reading and as we're looking to move homes shortly - I will be quite happy if I have finished a couple of the series I have been reading before I move.

At the weekend, I managed to finish the Rachel Caine Morganville series. This is a young adult 11 series set all about a young girl named Claire who gets into a university in the town of Morganville. Little does she realise, that Morganville is home to a vast amount of vampires and the university students are prey. After getting on the wrong side of the college bully, she moves off campus and thus begins the full story. We start with The Glass House book that opens the story.

She finds friendship, love and quite a lot of enemies throughout the series. I haven't read anything else from Rachel Caine, although I have seen a few of her series for sale when I look for new items and I am not sure that I would read another one. I love a young adult series usually but I felt this one was actually just suitable for young adults and was quite immature for me. It didn't hold my interest like the Twilight series or any of the other YA series that I have read.

The characters are good and the story is easy to follow so if vampires are your thing, then I would recommend a read. I did switch off from the series midway and come back to it. For me, I just found it a little repetitive. I know it must be difficult to write a YA series and try to handle a smaller story within a bigger one - however, I didn't actually feel like there was an overarching goal for the characters and an awful lot didn't change for them.

However, a light read if you are looking for something to pick up and put down when required.

P.S. If you have read this series, check out the mini youtube series created by a group of students - a little bit cheesy but nice to put a face to a name.

Soap & Glory Bubble Bath Review ...

I have used all of this product up now so decided it was time for a little review. I use soap and glory quite often but it wasn't until I picked this up after running low on bubble bath, that I actually tried this particular Soap and Glory product.

Soap and Glory Calm One Calm All has a beautiful smell that lingers in the bath long after the bubbles have faded (which was quite quickly). I do soak in the bath for a couple of hours and I find it very luxurious. This gave the bath a lovely feel and smelled amazing, I was just disappointed with the lack of bubbles - they didn't seem to last at all.

I love soap and glory as it just adds a bit of luxury to your normal daily routine - worth a try if you like the scent.

What do you like in your bubble bath??

Chill out time ...

Lately, I have been so busy and stressed out at work. I have been doing a lot of work outside of hours which is not ideal. However, in the last week I decided that enough was enough. You can't function properly in work if you haven't spent enough time on yourself when you are off.

My job means I am responsible for quite a few stores and therefore even outside of work, I sometimes answer my phone. I now switch off my phone outside of work and make sure that someone is available to deal with emergencies, should they arise.

Not only have I found that I am a lot happier at home, I am also a lot happier at work. I do my work inside of work hours and occasionally, I will do a few things outside of work but these tend to be things on the pc as I don't take my laptop to work with me. I think doing this has strengthened my time management skills.

The only thing now is finding what I enjoy doing outside of work!! I like to do online courses so I often purchase these and spend a little bit of time on a night studying. But, my all time favourite thing to do is to read - I love getting lost in a good book. We have had some lovely weather lately so I have spent a lot of time outdoors, but on this particular day I decided to read a book in my garden room with a cup of tea & a smelly candle on! What do you do to relax?

Initial mug - 99p from Homebargains, Vase & Flowers - Dunelm Mill & Love candle in a set from Next!
